Forgot what this movie is called (about a dj / type pawnshop in New Jersey)?

I forget what the movies about, I saw him a few years ago, but remember that its about a guy from New Jersey who wants to dj team he sees in the window of a pawnshop. Always go and look at all the days, but never have money to buy it at the end of the film succeeds and becomes a successful dj. It could have been a gangster film, I think remember he was doing jobs for gangsters to GE money, or maybe I'm wrong. No its not in the mix.
