What exactly is the difference between a power amplifier and pre amplifier??
I've always used combos and do not know much about the use of separate units. Can someone explain to me the difference between the amplifier and the amplifier before and also what your typical chain from the amplifier speakers to a car would be. Thank you very much
The preamp of an amplifier is used to "color" the tone. For example, the tone controls (treble, mid, bass) are in the prior, as is the reverb. The purpose of the preamplifier is to shape the sound, and input to the amplifier. The prior is usually from one to nine preamp tubes, depending on the amplifier. The power amplifier takes the signal from the preamplifier, and then most of the amplification that "drive" the speaker. original purpose of the power stage was to signal only after "stronger", although the stage Power also the tone of the colors.
